More About

Roots to Branches

“Roots to Branches” is an album where Jethro Tull revisits folk music but with a global perspective, incorporating world music elements into their sound. The album reflects Anderson’s travels and his interest in non-Western musical traditions.

“By this time, I was very much influenced by my travels, by the music I encountered around the world,” Anderson noted. “This album was about connecting with these roots, but also showing how they’ve branched out into different forms.” The title track and “Rare and Precious Chain” exemplify this fusion, blending traditional English folk with Eastern scales and rhythms.

“Roots to Branches” stands out for its eclectic nature, highlighting the band’s willingness to explore beyond their usual boundaries, creating a sound that is both familiar and fresh.

Notably, non-band member Steve Bailey contributed bass to six tracks on Roots To Branches.
